Rules
- We follow all rules of the Pokemon Showdown website.
- Please do not used excessive capitalization and stretching.
- When defeating a gym leader, please report it to a room owner.
- Keep profanity to a minimum. We realize not everyone on the server is ten years old, so we allow the use of profanity. This doesn't give you license to speak like a sailor.
- Do not police the chat. This includes "minimodding"—filling the role of a mod through threatening punishment directly ("mute this guy") or indirectly ("inb4 mute")—as well as telling off people who break rules visibly (for example, saying "stop the caps" to a spammer, while well intentioned, is not helping, and just disrupts the chat further).
- Rules are subject to moderator interpretation. What one moderator may consider "excessive punctuation" is not what all moderators consider "excessive punctuation." The above rules do not address every possible situation. A moderator may enact punishment for an offense not listed above.
FAQ: (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: Why is there an FAQ?
A: These questions are commonly asked in the chat on Pokémon Showdown. This FAQ is here to minimize the sheer number of questions asked every minute. If the question you have is not here, please ask in the chat or on the contact page and it may be added here at a later time.
Q: What is the Creature League?
A: Well it is like a fantasy league that replicates the Pokemon league such as Kanto, Sinnoh, etc. You battle 8 gym leaders and the elite four and then onto the Champion. In addition, you get to meet hangout with other challengers. Furthermore, if you ever get bored you can come to the league room and chat with us and play hangman together! We also host tournaments in our league room that you are welcome anytime to play in. However unlike other leagues, we will not be using the traditional 8 gym leaders, elite four, and champion system. This is because it is hard to have 8 people here at the league most of the time and it is a tedious grind to get 8 badges. Instead we will be using Tri-Gym Badge system where you just have to beat three out of the whatever how many gym leader the league has to make it to the hall of fame page! For more info be sure to visit the league page. Well that's basically it! Come join join in the fun and have some great and wonderful times!
Q: How does the league work?
A: Unlike the traditional 8 gym leaders, elite four, and champion leagues, this league will be using the Tri-Badge System. All you have to do is defeat 3 of the creature league gym leaders. Most likely they will be in OU tier or OUMonotype tier. The gym leaders may play other tiers but it is quite rare. Once you have earn your 3 gym leader badges, tell a room owner and you will be submitted into the infamous hall of fame in the Creature League. Feel free to try and stick around to earn all the other badges of this league. For more info on badges click here.
Q: How do I get promoted?
A: You do not join the staff by asking for it; if anything, asking will only set you back, marking you as impatient or power-hungry. If you are determined to be promoted, there are ways to display your worthiness:
Q: Where do I begin?
A: Just ask in the chat who is the gym leader and battle them. Once you beat three of them and get there badges you can become a hall of famer. For more info see The League.

Q: How do I get promoted?
A: You do not join the staff by asking for it; if anything, asking will only set you back, marking you as impatient or power-hungry. If you are determined to be promoted, there are ways to display your worthiness:
- Be on The Creature League Room regularly and contribute regularly to the chat. Being a staff member requires both a high level of activity and quality. Being on the chat regularly gives a good indication of your intelligence and will ensure, with good behaviour, that you earn respect from other users.
- Do not flame, be argumentative, or be a poor user in general. You obviously won't be given any power if you insult other users, break rules, or otherwise make more work for the staff. As well as the above, sycophancy is not beneficial, and will not aid your cause.
- Know what you're talking about when answering questions or having discussions. Although you don't need to be a great battler by any means to be a staff member, it does help if you know the metagame, so as to make it easier for you to help others.
- Show that you are mature and level-headed enough to have the privilege of power, and the responsibilities that come with it. Moderators have the power of banning users for long periods of time, and to earn this power, you must show that you are level-headed enough to only use this and other moderator powers when absolutely required.
- Most importantly, gain the respect of the users and staff members. You will only be considered for a staff position when you have the respect of all of the TCLS (The Creature League Staff) and users.

Q: How much will this site be updated and who actually read these stuff?
A: On a weekly basis, mostly on Fridays hopefully. If it is not updated then, either our staff is very busy or very lazy. Also, no one read these stuff, absolutely no one. That is why nobody has posted in the contact form yet.
Q: What does the (0-0) next to my name the hall of fame mean?
A: Well that is just for us to keep track of what badges that count toward the league and those that don't. The left 0 is for badges that you earn from the chat and not from battling elite gym leaders, the only exception to this is the creature tour participants. The right side is for the badges you earn from elite gym leaders. This is only for people who haven't earn all three gym badges yet and are not staff nor a spectator. We could do a (0-0-0) triple one for all except battling, battling, and total but that would be confusing for people and not everybody will read the faq to find out.
Q: What does the (3-TBN) next to my name the hall of fame mean?
A: TBN means Trial Badge Needed to be a hall of famer of the creature league.
Q: Why do you call yourselves and others creatures?
A: Back in the good old machinima making days, we discovered an animation glitch in Call of Duty 4 that made a rather humorous
crawling movement on the characters. This was achieved when you layed prone, moved forward, and swapped your weapons very quickly.
We called it the "Creature Crawl" and have been using the word Creature ever since.
Q: What is with that phrase "What the Brown"?
A: We started using the word "Brown" as a replacement for mad in the question umad?(Sp00n started it first). This eventually turned
into us asking each other if we were "Brown", which further progressed into us using the word for just about everything. On a side
note, the phrase is in no way meant to be racist.
Q: How does one become a creature?
A: Through years and years of practice and creaturism. Keep working at it, you will get it one of these days.
Q: What does MLG mean? and why do you guys always say it?
A: First of all, http://lmgtfy.com/?q=mlg Second of all, we like to mock the idea of MLG because the concept is so rediculous. For
some reason, the idea of people taking video games that seriously just makes us all laugh.
Q: I am an aspiring commentator, can you give me a shout-out?
A: Simply put, no. Shout outs really hurt the idea of getting big from making cool stuff. The people that deserve the most
attention usually get swamped by less entertaining individuals who get shouted out. We believe that it is better for everybody
to begin on a level playing field so the people who deserve attention can earn it. I know it starts off slow, but all you have to do
is post entertaining content that engages the audience and keeps them entertained. The people will follow, trust me.
Q: Do you guys get money from this website?
A: No, we are a nonprofit organization(league). We could gained money from this if we wanted to by putting up ads but we don't.
Q: What programs do you used to make your league?
A: Chrome, Notepad, MSPaint, Notepad++, and Gimp
Q: My teams keep getting deleted. What is going on?
A: Pokémon Showdown currently saves teams in your browser's storage. Deleting your cookies will delete your teams. You may either change the setting on your browser or go to Backup/Restore in the Teambuilder and copy your teams to save them in a text file for easy importing later if you are afraid of losing them.
Q: How do I save a log of the battle to watch later?
A: After you have finished a battle, click the Share Replay button. In a few seconds, a window will pop up with a link to your battle saved on the Pokémon Showdown Replay Viewer. This link can be shared and will show a full replay of your battle including animations. If you were not in the battle, you can type /savereplay at any point to save the replay. If it says "Hash Mismatch", your replay had already been saved; you can search for it here.
Q: How do I challenge another user to a battle?
A: As with private messaging, click on their name on the online users list. Click the Challenge button, select the specifications (tier, your team), and challenge them. If they choose to accept your challenge, the battle will begin. You may also type /challenge username, where username is their username (the space between challenge and username is important).
Q: What is this move called Magikarp's Revenge?
A: Magikarp's Revenge was designed for testing multiple effects on the same move. It is not a real move and is not allowed in standard battles, although you can use it in Debug Mode.
